Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

Service description

AudLit is a browser-based audiobook production platform. It provides manuscript import, recording with teleprompter, automatic best-take selection, audio mastering, and collaboration tools. AudLit runs entirely in your browser using the File System Access API — your recordings and manuscripts stay on your computer.

Account responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide a valid email address and accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use AudLit to produce content that is illegal, infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, or violates applicable laws. You may not attempt to interfere with the service, reverse-engineer its systems, or use automated tools to access it in ways not intended.

Intellectual property

You own all rights to your manuscripts, recordings, and finished audio files. AudLit claims no ownership, license, or rights to any content you create or import. The AudLit platform, its code, design, and branding are the property of AudLit.

Payment terms

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Per-book hour packs are one-time purchases that never expire — unused hours carry over even if you later subscribe to or cancel an annual plan. Annual subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. If you delete your account, all server-side data is removed, including any remaining purchased hours. Your recordings and manuscripts are stored locally on your computer and are never affected by account changes or deletion. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 14 days of purchase if you are unsatisfied.

Limitation of liability

AudLit is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for any data loss, interruption of service, or damages arising from your use of the platform. Because your files are stored locally on your computer, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Termination removes your server-side data (project metadata, annotations). Your local files are unaffected.

Modifications

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of AudLit after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of material changes via email.
